History of the Brand
Calabria has two amaro landscapes: the citrus coast, which gave the world bergamot, and the Sila plateau, a cold forested highland that feels nothing like the rest of the south.
Amaro Silano takes its name and its character from the second, using herbs from the Sila alongside the region's famous citrus and liquorice.
It shares a shelf with Vecchio Amaro del Capo as a Calabrian staple, though it stayed more regional and less nationally advertised.
Southern Italians drink it very cold, straight from the freezer, in the same way the rest of Calabria treats its digestivi.
Tasting Characteristics
Liquorice and mint, bergamot oil, warm caramel.
Rounded and moderately sweet, liquorice and anise over herbal bitterness, with bright citrus through the middle.
Cooling and sweetly bitter, mint lingering.
