Fernandito
Fernet and Coke — Argentina's national drink, and the easiest amaro highball alive.

The Method
How to make it
- 01
Fill a collins glass to the top with cold ice.
- 02
Pour in the Fernet-Branca.
- 03
Top slowly with cola, pouring down the side of the glass to keep the fizz.
- 04
Give one gentle lift with a bar spoon.
- 05
Squeeze and drop in a lime wedge.
Bartender's Tip
Ice first, Fernet second, cola last. Pour the cola onto the spirit and you knock the carbonation out before you ever reach the table.
A Little History
Córdoba students started mixing Fernet with Coca-Cola in the 1980s, and Argentina now drinks a startling share of all the Fernet-Branca made in Milan. Locals call the ratio 70/30 — cola to Fernet — and serve it in a plastic cup at every asado in the country.
