How bottles are tasted, scored and described here — and what a score does and does not mean.
No producer, importer, retailer, or brand pays for a review, a score, or placement. We accept no compensation, gifts, travel, or advertising in exchange for coverage. A sample bottle, if received, does not buy a score. If a product was purchased rather than sampled, that does not change the standard.
A review is one taster's judgment of a specific bottle on a given day: appearance, aroma, flavor, texture, balance, finish, and how it might be used. Technical facts (ABV, origin, stated botanicals, typical price) are checked against producer or public information. Flavor language is our own.
Scores use a 100-point scale as a shorthand for overall quality in style. They are not laboratory measurements and not a guarantee you will like the bottle. Palates differ. Temperature, glassware, food, and personal taste all change the experience.
If you disagree with a note, that is expected. Use the description to decide whether the style sounds like yours. A high score on a sweet, herbal amaro does not mean it will please someone who wants a dry, punishing bitter.
We aim for factual labels (name, ABV, price band). Prices move. Recipes are often secret; botanical lists are those the producer discloses. These reviews are not medical or dietary advice.
