The Tasting Note

Appearance

Deep, rich brown with red-gold hints at the rim.

Nose

Quiet at first, then it builds: roasted coffee, toasted hazelnut, bitter orange oil, a cola-spice thread and a little vanilla sweetness underneath.

Palate

Thick and satin-smooth rather than medicinal — espresso and cocoa lead, then caramel, pomegranate, cinnamon and a clean herbal bitterness held in check.

Finish

Sweetness is present but steps back quickly, giving way to a long close of sage, anise and mint.

Verdict

The rare bottle that earns a place both after the meal and behind the bar — especially alongside rye or bourbon.
